Avtotor is negotiating with manufacturers from friendly countries

Kaliningrad Avtotor plant has preliminary agreements on the assembly of cars at its facilities with manufacturers from countries that have not imposed sanctions against Russia. This was announced by the governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, however, he did not disclose the names of the companies with which negotiations are underway. According to him, the transition to new models may take three to four months. Avtotor is one of the largest manufacturers of foreign cars in Russia. In recent years, the plant has been assembling cars of the Korean brands Kia and Hyundai, as well as the German BMW, but the BMW concern announced the suspension of the production of cars in Kaliningrad. Currently, the Avtotor team is on a corporate vacation, which will last from May 1st to May 22nd.

Meanwhile, during this period, the structures that manage the construction and equipping of new production facilities and capacities created as a part of Avtotor's obligations under a special investment contract will operate normally. Employees of the Electroelement Design and Development Center and other departments involved in the implementation of the project to create the production of electric vehicles will also continue their work.
