The first service that converts cars to cars with electric engines has opened in Russia

The manufacturer of ultra-fast charging stations for electric vehicles, Edison Technologies, has opened the country's first service in the country to convert conventional cars to electric engines in Moscow. As the experts explained, the process consists of installing an electric engine, connecting its own BMS (Battery Management System) and installing batteries. Then, a point adjustment and optimization of the entire car is carried out, including the ABS and ESP systems being reflashed for the new reactions of the car to the gas pedal and some controls inside the cabin are changing, the Lenta.ru portal writes.

So, buttons may appear in the car to turn on the imitation of sound from the internal combustion engine - it is needed to avoid dangerous situations on the road for other road users that may arise due to the almost silent electric engine. According to the company, the transformation of a conventional car into an electric car will take six to eight weeks and will cost from 1.5 million rubles. It's pretty cheap, considering that a used Tesla Model S 75 electric car costs from 3.8 million rubles, and a new car of the same model starts from 7 million. As AUTOSTAT previously reported, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) decided to zero the customs duty on the import of electric vehicles to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU; in addition to the Russian Federation, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan) until 2024.

However, only citizens permanently residing in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan will be exempted from paying the fee. The transfer of the rights to own, use and dispose of electric vehicles to persons who have citizenship and / or permanently live in Russia is not allowed, the EEC noted. The use of a tariff exemption in combination with other measures aimed at stimulating demand for electric vehicles, their production and the development of a network of charging stations will help to create a "window of opportunity" for a wider distribution of such vehicles, as well as for their production in the EAEU.
