The plans of foreign automakers to work in Russia should be clarified by the beginning of summer, said Denis Manturov, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. "We expect that within a maximum of May they will come to a final decision, and no later than June, we must come to a common denominator with them," the Interfax news agency cited the Minister. Many foreign automakers after February 24 announced the suspension of local production in Russia and the cessation of imports into the country. Some of them cited disruptions in supply chains. Meanwhile, none of the major players has officially formalized the withdrawal from Russia yet.

According to the development director of Pragmatika Group of Companies, Alexander Shaprinsky, consumers should not expect a quick change in the situation, as manufacturers have stopped operations for many brands. And for some, due to the break in supply chains, it is not possible to assemble the necessary volume of cars to meet demand. In turn, Aleksey Makarov, Director for Development and Corporate Governance of Nizhegorodets, notes that in the current situation, Chinese manufacturers, who continue to increase their market share in Russia, feel most advantageous. They also have difficulties with supplies, which are associated with setting up supply chains.

Now employees of Chinese representative offices involved in the development of the dealer network in Russia are working overtime, because almost all dealers have applied for dealerships of Chinese brands.
