Passenger car production fell by 72% in March

According to Rosstat, for the first three months of 2022, 244,000 cars rolled off Russian assembly lines, which is 33.2% lower than in the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, 41,000 cars were produced in March, which is 72.1% lower than a year before. It is worth noting that the vast majority of Russian car plants suspended the production for an indefinite period last month cause of a shortage of components due to a break in supply chains cause of the situation around Ukraine.

So, in March, the production of passenger cars was carried out only at a few enterprises - these are AVTOVAZ and LADA Izhevsk, the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, Haval Motor Rus, Mazda Sollers, PSMA Rus and Avtotor, which continues to produce Kia models and Hyundai, while the BMW assembly line is on hold. The production of trucks in January-March was 40.3 thousand units, which is 5.3% higher than the figure for the same period of the previous year.

Last month, 14.2 thousand trucks left the Russian conveyors, which is 19.8% lower than a year before. It should be noted that KAMAZ reduced the production by 7.5% in March, having produced 4023 vehicle sets.
