Automotive production fell by almost 60% in March

Automobile plants located in the territory of the Russian Federation in March 2022 produced 71.9 thousand units of automotive vehicles. According to the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" by the results of processing and analysis of the relevant data of JSC "Electronic Passport", this is 57% lower than in March 2021.

If we compare this result with the figure for February this year, it is lower by 44%. The production of passenger cars fell the most in March in compare with the level of a year ago - by 64% to 50.2 thousand units. The production of LCVs fell by 31% to 11 thousand cars, and trucks - by 21% to 9.6 thousand units. At the same time, the assembly of buses, on the contrary, increased (+35% to 1.1 thousand units). As for the results of the 1st quarter of 2022, during this period, the production volume of automotive vehicles was 302.6 thousand units, which is 21% lower than in January-March last year. And here the production of passenger cars fell (-28%), while LCV, trucks and buses grew (+9%, +10% and +84% respectively).

As the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" noted, the decline in production is largely due to the consequences of the military special operation in Ukraine. In connection with this situation, a number of foreign automakers suspended the work of their enterprises in Russia, and some faced the interruptions in the supply of components.
