European sales of LADA grew by a third in March 2022

According to the results of March, 153 new LADA cars were sold in the countries of the European Union, which is 35.3% higher than the previous year. Thus, the positive dynamics is recorded for the seventh month in a row, but it is primarily due to the low base of the previous year. Since the beginning of 2022, the sales of LADA cars in the European Union were 468 units, having increased by 49.5%, experts of the AUTOSTAT analytical agency stated (according to the results of ACEA data processing).

Recall that in the spring of 2019 AVTOVAZ decided to stop deliveries of LADA cars to Europe. The reason for leaving was called the tightening of environmental standards: the current Euro 6d-TEMP standard requires serious investments in the modernization of engines. Meanwhile, it was previously announced that the LADA brand will return to the European market with a new generation LADA Niva SUV, which should be introduced in 2024.

However, in March 2022 it became known that the Renault Group is considering possible options regarding its share in AVTOVAZ as a part of compliance with international sanctions against Russia, in connection with which LADA's export plans for Europe may be revised.
