In Russia, it will be allowed to produce cars of all environmental classes

Due to the impact of the special operation in Ukraine on the supply of components in Russia, they may temporarily allow the production of cars of all environmental classes, including Euro-0. Concerns have already assembled several thousand of these vehicles that do not meet the current Euro-5 standard, the Kommersant newspaper writes, citing its sources. The need to roll back the requirements to the level of the 1990s arose against the background of the suspension of the supply of electronic control units; however, the authorities do not abandon other components that affect emissions, such as catalysts, as they are in the Russian Federation.

As the executive director of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" Sergey Udalov notes, the environment is not so important for consumers, but the decrease in the level of safety and comfort will affect demand. Meanwhile, Russian car factories are supporting actively the transition to softer requirements for equipping manufactured cars. This was announced to Gazeta.Ru at AVTOVAZ, KAMAZ, UAZ and GAZ Group. At the same time, representatives of car factories prefer not to talk about a specific list of components that cars will lose in the near future. The press service of the GAZ Group said that they do not plan to abandon completely the production of full-fledged equipment for their cars, even if the minimum requirements for them are reduced.

Simplified requirements are necessary to prevent a stop in the production of cars during the implementation of the import substitution program for components, the press service of UAZ reported. After switching to a new component base, the plant expects to return to the production of vehicles that meet current technical requirements.
