Renault has patented a new compact sedan in Russia

Renault has made patent documents in Russia for the appearance of the Taliant compact sedan. Corresponding images of the car appeared in the open database of Rospatent. Recall that Renault Taliant sedan was introduced in the spring of 2021 in Turkey, where this model is produced. Externally and technically, the car is close to the third-generation Dacia Logan sedan, with which Taliant shares the CMF-B modular platform.

The engine range of the sedan includes a 1.0-liter three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with 65 hp, working in combination with a 5-speed manual transmission. In addition, the Renault Taliant is available with a supercharged 90 hp version of the unit, as well as a 100 hp propane-capable engine. For "senior" units, a 6-band "mechanics" or variator is provided. At the end of March, Renault decided to suspend the operations in Russia and froze the car production at its Moscow plant for an indefinite period. Meanwhile, since the end of the previous year, AVTOVAZ in Togliatti has been preparing for the production of third-generation Renault Logan and Sandero models, which, according to unofficial data, continues at the present time.

As AUTOSTAT previously reported, according to the results of the first quarter of 2022, Russian Renault dealers sold 22,392 cars, which is 26% lower than the figure for the same period of the previous year. As a result, Renault ranked the fourth in terms of sales among all automakers in Russia, and the brand's market share was 8.1% against 7.8% a year before, according to the AEB.
