The European Union has banned the supply of trucks and special equipment to Russia

EU sanctions include a ban on the export to Russia of trucks and special equipment, including truck tractors, medium-duty trucks, concrete mixers, bulldozers, tractors, communal street cleaning vehicles and dump trucks, as well as fire equipment and technologies. The ban will take effect from July 10th, 2022 for contracts that were concluded before April 9th this year.

Representatives of Russian car factories talk about the presence in their range of special equipment, similar to those supplied from Europe. In turn, the experts note that imported trucks in our country make up a third of the fleet, and in the short term it will be not possible to replace them. The ban on European vehicles will hit carriers operating truck tractors in Russia especially hard: imported vehicles prevail in this segment.

The main problem for carriers in the current conditions is not updating the fleet, but maintaining the existing equipment in working condition, says Alexander Kotov, chairman of the Interregional Trade Union of Professional Drivers. According to him, now carriers will be more concerned about the issue of spare parts, and demand for new vehicles will be minimal.
