05 julymore infoAccording to the results of 8 months of 2019, SUV segment remains the most popular in the Russian car market. Sales of crossovers and SUVs for this period of time reached 450 thousand units, which is higher than 43% of the market.
In March 2022, Russians bought almost 79 thousand new cars, which is 43% lower than in the same month of the previous year. This was found out by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" after processing and analyzing the relevant information * on the car market. The fall of the Russian car market in March grew significantly (in January and February it was 12%) due to the military special operation in Ukraine. After it began, many automakers announced the suspension of supply of cars to the Russian market. In addition, a disruption in the supply chains of components caused the shutdown of conveyors at a number of car plants in the Russian Federation. Also, the collapse of the Russian ruble in late February - early March led to the fact that new cars have risen in price over the month, according to the Auto Price website, by 35 - 45% in average.
About 60% of all purchased new passenger cars in the first spring month belonged to five brands: LADA (17.1 thousand units), Kia (9.4 thousand units), Hyundai (8.6 thousand units), Renault (6.7 thousand units) and Toyota (4.8 thousand units). At the same time, all of them demonstrate a fall - in the range from 39% to 50%. Skoda (-56%), Great Wall (-56%), Subaru (-57%), Volkswagen (-59%), Lexus (-67%), Cadillac (-70%) and JAC fell even more (-72%). However, some brands managed to show the market growth in March. Thus, Chinese Haval (+10%) became the only manufacturer in the TOP-10, which turned out to be “in the black”. Jeep grew by 16%, Opel - by 21%, Citroen - by 31%, Genesis - by 57%, EXEED - by 102%.
DFM (up 10 times) and Isuzu (up 37 times) showed much higher growth, which is first of all due to the low comparative base. As for the results of the 1st quarter of this year, during this period, the residents of the Russian Federation bought 264,000 new cars. And this is 25% lower in compare with the result of January-March of 2021.
