AVTOVAZ will start the production of "light" versions of LADA cars in the summer

On Monday, April 4th, AVTOVAZ goes on a corporate vacation, which was postponed from July to April - due to difficulties in the supply of components. During this period, the company will be engaged in the restoration of broken supply chains of components and the accumulation of stocks of components, according to a press release. Contrary to the forecasts of skeptics, who believed that the company would not soon be able to escape from the state of downtime even after the vacation (no one canceled sanctions from a number of states unfriendly to Russia), the company's management plans to switch to the assembly of special versions of LADA in June, albeit with a reduced number of foreign components, and primarily electronic ones.

According to the governor of the Samara region Dmitry Azarov, some of the components for domestic "Lada" have already been found - they will be supplied to the enterprise by companies from Asian countries, which have not been named yet, since the issue is related to contracts and logistics. According to unofficial data, LADA Granta and LADA Niva are cars that will be the first to be put on the conveyor in the form of lightweight special versions, presumably, they will be produced without ABS, ESP, ERA-GLONASS, and also without airbags. It is possible that cars will lose one or two oxygen sensors in the exhaust system, and they will also have a simpler design of the engine control unit and its firmware (respectively, the environmental class will decrease). Potential buyers are very interested in the question of how much the price of such simplified versions will decrease.

But so far there is no answer and cannot be, due to a number of macroeconomic factors. Let us recall that today LADA Granta and LADA Niva are the most localized models in the Russian automotive industry. According to the system of points developed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, LADA Granta has 4621 points out of 8800 possible in terms of localization, Niva - 4156 points. Accordingly, by removing part of modern electronics, this indicator (and, accordingly, dependence on foreign suppliers) can be significantly reduced.
