In March, new cars became more expensive by 35-45%

Prices for new cars in March were 35-45% higher in average than in February. This was found out by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT", having analyzed the results of monitoring the websites of distributors, which was carried out by the portal "Auto Price" for the period from March 1st to March 31st of this year. The increase in prices for cars (cars and LCVs) noted by 26 manufacturers allows us to judge an average level of price growth from 35% to 45%. However, a number of other companies officially represented in the Russian market did not update the price information or removed it from their websites. Almost all brands that have raised prices for their products have done so across the entire model range.

And for some of them this happened twice in the previous month. For example, AVTOVAZ increased the cost of its models on March 1st and 16th. As a result, LADA cars became more expensive by 11-47%, depending on the model and configuration. The Korean Kia, which holds the leadership in sales among foreign cars, increased the prices of its models by 24-39% in March. Also Japanese brands distinguished. For example, Mitsubishi's cars have risen in price by 42% in average, Mazda - by 35%, and Subaru - by 25%. In addition, Honda raised prices for the CR-V crossover by 30%, and Isuzu for the D-Max pickup (+50%). Among the Chinese brands, Chery and EXEED stand out, the cars of which in March became more expensive by 45%. And among the "Europeans" Peugeot can be noted, most of its models have added in price from 29% to 50%.

At the same time, it is worth recalling that in the first half of March, a number of automakers already quite sharply raised prices for their products, for example, Citroen (by an average of 35%), Opel (+42%), Renault (+38%), Nissan (+35%). This is largely due to the consequences of the military special operation that Russia is conducting in Ukraine (a serious depreciation of the ruble, the suspension of deliveries or production of cars, etc.).
