Many car plants in Russia today suspended the production due to the lack of auto components needed to assemble cars. To the shortage of microchips, which not only the domestic, but also the global auto industry suffered in 2021, was added the disruption of logistics supply chains associated with the sanctions imposed on Russia in March 2022. In the global auto world, much is tied to international cooperation. The suppliers of even domestic LADA are now a complete “international”: Germany, the USA, the Czech Republic, France, Turkey, Italy, China, Taiwan and others. In the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, it is customary to evaluate each technological operation in the automotive industry and the share of Russian-made components and assemblies with a certain number of points.

So, for example, welding of the body gets 400 points, painting - 500 points, stamping of body parts - up to 300 points, and the use of Russian metal - 200. A solid increase in points is given by our own production of engines and gearboxes. Let's see together which of the popular models in Russia have a higher level of localization of production, and, accordingly, are less prone to component shortages today. According to the calculations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the models of the LADA brand were expected to be the most localized. But even the most localized of them - LADA Granta - out of a possible 8800 points managed to score only 4621. For others, the situation is even worse. For example, the TOP in terms of localization, in addition to Granta, also includes LADA Niva (4156 points), LADA Vesta (3995 points), LADA Largus (3420 points), Renault Duster and Renault Logan (2199 points each). Korean KIA Rio, Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Solaris have 1550 points. Localization level of Volkswagen Tiguan is 1025 points, Toyota RAV4 and Toyota Camry - 1000 points. It takes time to organize the production of the necessary components in the country. Therefore, the same AVTOVAZ postponed its July corporate vacation to April - a respite is needed to try to find new suppliers.

Therefore, in the coming months, the release of special versions of LADA is announced, which they plan to bring to the market without ABS, ESP, airbags and the ERA-GLONASS emergency communication system, without one or two oxygen sensors in the exhaust system, with a simpler engine control unit. But LADA, we recall, is less tied to imported components than others. For others, the situation is more complicated. Nevertheless, Kaliningrad Avtotor is working; the assembly is continuing at the Tula Haval plant, their situation with the supply of components does not have such a strong effect on the production process yet.
