Under the current sanctions, the Government of the Russian Federation legalized parallel imports

As a new measure to increase the stability of the economy in the face of sanctions, the Government of the Russian Federation, by a separate decree, allowed the import into the country of sought-after original foreign-made goods "without the consent of the copyright holders." The document cancels the responsibility for the so-called parallel import. Under the conditions of external restrictions, the decision will help to provide the domestic market with demanded goods and will help stabilize prices for them.

In the opening remarks at a meeting of the Presidium of the Government Commission on Improving the Resilience of the Russian Economy in the Face of Sanctions, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin explained: "The purpose of this mechanism is to satisfy the demand for goods containing the results of intellectual activity. Until now, they could not be sold on the territory of our country without the permission of the copyright holder. A law has recently been passed giving the Government the power to determine the list of products that are de facto subject to the international principle of trademark exhaustion when they are sold by an owner in any part of the world. Such an approach will guarantee the supply of goods to our country, including despite the unfriendly actions of foreign politicians."

The list of goods that can be imported into Russia under this mechanism will be formed and approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. It will be drawn up taking into account the proposals of the sectoral departments. In relation to the goods from this list, all the necessary customs and control procedures will be carried out, they (important point!) will be covered by a guarantee. Most likely, spare parts for cars will be there also.
