In the previous winter month of 2022, Russians became owners of 377,000 used cars, which is 6.5% lower than in February 2021. Such results were obtained by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" by the results of processing and analysis of the relevant data of JSC "Electronic Passport". Agency experts note that the Russian secondary market has been falling for the last few months (since October 2021). This is largely due to the fact that against the background of the shortage of new cars that began the previous year, people monitored more actively the "secondary" market and bought used cars.
Accordingly, offers for the sale of used cars have now become noticeably smaller. In addition, in the last days of February, namely after the start of a military special operation in Ukraine, many sellers began to remove ads for the sale of their cars - because of the possible risk of depreciation of money. In February, Russians purchased 87.4 thousand used LADA cars, which remain the most popular in the secondary market. Used Toyota cars were bought twice less (42.2 thousand units). Also used cars of brands Hyundai (20.1 thousand units), Nissan (19.7 thousand units) and Kia (19.1 thousand units) are in steady demand.
If in 2021 Ford Focus was the most popular model of the secondary market, this year the LADA 2114 hatchback is the leader. In February, it was sold in the amount of 8.6 thousand units. In second place by the preferences of Russians there is LADA 2170 sedan with 7.8 thousand units. And after them there are foreign cars in the ranking: Hyundai Solaris (7.7 thousand units), Ford Focus (7.7 thousand units) and Kia Rio (7.4 thousand units).
