The market of new electric vehicles grew about 4 times in February 2022

In the previous winter month, Russians purchased 290 new electric vehicles, which is 3.8 times higher than in February 2021. This was found out by the experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", having considered the relevant statistics* on the car market. More than a half (52%) of the market of new electric cars in February belonged to Tesla - 151 units of this brand were bought this month, which is 10 times higher than a year ago. A sixth part of the total number of sold electric vehicles is occupied by Porsche products (48 units), the figure of which grew 1.5 times. This is followed by another premium brand from Germany – Audi (31 units; +48%).

We should also note the Chinese JAC (19 units; an increase of 9.5 times), which also managed to overcome the milestone of 10 electric cars. The results of other brands were below the specified value. The most popular model among new electric vehicles in February this year was Tesla Model Y with 87 sold units. The second place in the model rating was taken by Tesla Model 3 with 54 units.

The third one is the Audi e-tron family (42 units). In addition to them, the top five of the best-selling new electric cars were Porsche Taycan (26 units) and Nissan Leaf (10 units) the previous month. The performance of other models is lower than 10 sold electric vehicles. If we consider the results of two months of 2022, then during this period the volume of the Russian market of new electric cars was 565 units. This is 2.8 times higher than in January-February of the previous year.
