Michelin has suspended the production and supply of tires to Russia


Since March 14th, Michelin has suspended temporarily the production of tires at a plant in Davydovo near Moscow, as well as the import of new products to Russia. This was reported to the agency "AUTOSTAT" in the press service of Michelin in the Eastern European region, by adding that this decision was made with taking into account the restrictions on operating activities caused by difficulties in the supply of raw materials and semi-finished products, disrupted financial flows and exchange rate volatility.

"In the current difficult to predict context, the priority for Michelin is to support all employees affected by this crisis. At the moment, the staff and salaries of employees have been preserved in full. Further plans will be announced additionally depending on the development of the situation," Michelin press service said. Michelin has been presented in the Eastern European region since 1997. In 2004, Michelin plant for the production of passenger tires was opened in the village of Davydovo (Orekhovo-Zuevsky district, Moscow region).

Today, Michelin's East European division employs about 1,000 people. Recall that Bridgestone previously also announced the suspension of production and supply of tires to Russia, as well as investments until further notice. In addition, Continental's Kaluga plant has temporarily suspended the production of tires for an indefinite period due to the fact that the warehouses have accumulated large stocks of finished products previously produced for export.
