Russian automotive market, which continued to fall in February, nevertheless rose to the third place in the European ranking. According to the data received by the agency "AUTOSTAT" in the national associations of automakers in Europe, Germany remains the leader in the sale of cars the previous month, where 200,512 cars were sold (+3.2%).

According to the Association of the German Automobile Industry (VDA), positive dynamics is recorded for the second month in a row, which is partly due to the low base effect. Meanwhile, orders for new cars in February grew by 15%, which allows us to expect the continued sales growth in the future. France ranked the second among the largest European car markets with 115,386 cars (-13%). The negative dynamics is fixed the ninth month in a row, which is explained by the continued interruptions in the supply of new cars due to a shortage of semiconductors for their production. If, when considering the automotive market in Europe, Russia is taken into account, then our country has risen to the third place of the European rating.

Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were 114,349 units (-4.8%) the previous month, according to the Association of European Businesses. The fourth result was shown by Italy – 110,869 sold cars (-22.6%). Spain is the next, the dealers of which sold 62,103 vehicles (+6.6%). According to the Spanish Association of Car and Truck Manufacturers (ANFAC), the positive result is due to the low base of the previous year, and in compare with the “pre-Covid” February 2019, the current result was worse by 38%.
