KAMAZ faced a shortage of imported components due to the suspension of deliveries of products to Russia by some foreign suppliers against the backdrop of EU sanctions. This is stated in a letter from Dmitry Leonov, General Director of Trade and Financial KAMAZ, to the heads of the concern's dealers. “In this regard, vehicles of the whole K3 model range from March will be produced mainly in configurations with Russian counterparts - gearbox 154, KAMAZ engines, APPP fuel equipment (Altai Precision Products Plant, Barnaul - Ed.). In case of absence of modifications with Russian components, the order of models for production will not be accepted,” the letter says. It follows from the document that the shortage of components will not allow KAMAZ to produce vehicles and chassis with Cummins engines (USA), ZF gearbox (Germany) and Bosch fuel equipment (Germany). Recall that KAMAZ installs Cummins diesel engines for a wide range of models. With partner Cummins Inc. the Russian manufacturer has a joint venture (JV) in the Russian Federation - Cummins Kama.
At the same time, the capacity of the line for the production of P6 engines (Euro-5 environmental class) is now 12 thousand units per a year (the assembly line is being modernized, after which the productivity will increase to 30 thousand engines per a year). As previously reported by "AUTOSTAT", due to the suspension of supplies of components from Europe, KAMAZ corrects the production plan for the coming months. According to Yuri Gerasimov, First Deputy General Director of KAMAZ, trucks of the K3 generation of the Euro-5 class will make up the bulk. The pace of assembly of K5 vehicles will temporarily decrease in favor of the K3 generation, although, in general, the prospects for the supply of components, taking into account localization plans, are quite stable.
As for the K4 line, this year should be the last one according to the company's development strategy. “Certain stabilizing measures were taken by us in advance: first of all, a clear order for supplies for March was formed. This will allow us to adhere to the work schedule determined by the three-month planning until the middle of the month, and now we are placing an order until June and working simultaneously on the supply and localization of components for each model range. From the second half of the month, with the beginning of the assembly of the modified model range, we will assemble 180 cars per day,” said Mr. Gerasimov.
