St. Petersburg plant Hyundai suspended temporarily the production

St. Petersburg plant Hyundai suspended temporarily the production from March 1st to 5th due to a shortage of components due to ongoing global logistical disruptions in the supply of auto components. The company plans to resume the production on March 9th. This was reported to the agency "AUTOSTAT" in the press service of "Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus", by noting that the plant periodically encounters interruptions in the supply of auto components, starting from the end of 2020. At the end of 2021, Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg produced 234,000 vehicles, which is 7% higher than a year ago.

Kia Rio remains the most popular model on the assembly line of the company with 92,000 sedans and cross-hatchbacks (+2%). The production of the Hyundai Creta crossover was 71 thousand cars the last year (-5%), the Solaris sedan - 71 thousand units (+32%). It should be noted that mass production of the second generation of the Hyundai Creta crossover began in July at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant. Investments in the modernization of production facilities for the release of new items were more than $100 million. Rio remains Kia’s bestseller in the Russian market – in 2021, 82.9 thousand cars of this model were sold (-5.8%), and the share of Rio X cross-hatchbacks in the sales structure of the family exceeded 50%. At the same time Rio becomes the best-selling foreign car in the Russian car market for the fifth year in a row.

Sales of the Hyundai Creta compact crossover were 68.1 thousand units (-7.4%), which allowed it to become the leader in the SUV segment for the fifth year in a row. More than 61,000 buyers opted for the Hyundai Solaris sedan, more by 24% in compare with 2020. In addition, Hyundai's St. Petersburg plant exported more than 24,000 vehicles and vehicle sets (+25%) the last year. It is worth noting that more than 16,000 car kits were shipped at the Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan plant, where since May 2021 small-scale assembly of Hyundai Accent sedans (in Russia, the model is called Solaris) has been carried out.
