Volkswagen Group Rus has suspended the shipments of vehicles located in Russia to local dealers. This was reported in the press service of the company, by noting that we are talking only about cars that are already in the Russian Federation, and there has been no information about limiting supplies from abroad. Volkswagen Group Rus combines seven brands of the concern on the Russian market: Volkswagen Cars, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Skoda, Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley and Ducati. In 2021, Volkswagen Group sales in the Russian market were 199.2 thousand vehicles, and the market share of Volkswagen Group Rus reached 11.9%.

There were produced 170.3 thousand cars at the company's production sites, among which 118 thousand were produced at the company's plant in Kaluga, as well as 52.3 thousand cars at the production site in Nizhny Novgorod. Sales of the most popular Russian-made Volkswagen model, the Polo compact liftback, were 46.9 thousand units (-20%) in 2021. Tiguan crossover sales fell by 11% to 29.2 thousand vehicles. Last year, Skoda's bestseller in the Russian market was the compact liftback Rapid with 41.7 thousand sold cars (+18%).

The second place by popularity was taken by the compact crossover Skoda Karoq, the sales of which grew by 25% and reached 19.5 thousand units. The third result was shown by Kodiaq crossover, which was chosen by 16.2 thousand Russian buyers (-21%). It is worth noting that in December, Russian dealers received an updated Skoda Kodiaq. The fourth-generation Skoda Octavia is the next, which sold 12.2 thousand units against 1.1 thousand cars a year before (the model went on sale in November of 2020).
