In January of this year, the residents of the Russian Federation bought 7.3 thousand new premium cars, which is 28% lower than in January 2021. Such results were obtained by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" by the results of processing and analysis of the relevant data of JSC "Electronic Passport". BMW keeps its leadership in the premium segment – 2,234 vehicles of the Bavarian brand were purchased the previous month (-28% in compare with January 2021).
The second place is taken by Mercedes-Benz (1,893 units; -19%). But another brand from Germany, Audi (680 units; -41%), moved up to the third position. Thus, after a long break, we are witnessing the reunion of the "German three". In turn, the Japanese Lexus fell to the fourth place in the ranking - in January, its result was 638 purchased cars, by showing a drop of 60%. English Land Rover finishes the TOP-5 of the Russian premium segment in January, the figure of which was 379 units (-17%). Despite the decline in the premium car market, individual brands showed the growth in January. So, Porsche added 9%, Jaguar - 19%, Infiniti - 23%.
But Genesis's market volumes increased the most - 7 times at once. Recall that according to the results of January, the Russian car market as a whole, according to the data of the agency "AUTOSTAT" and JSC "Electronic Passport", fell by 17%. Since the drop was deeper in the premium segment, its market share fell from 10.3% to 9%.
