Production of the new Kia Sportage has begun in Russia

Kaliningrad Avtotor plant has begun the production of the fifth-generation Kia Sportage crossover, which will go on sale in the second quarter of this year. It is already known that the Comfort version, equipped with a 2-liter gasoline engine with 150 hp, a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, will be included in the model lineup. The cost of the Comfort package, one of the most popular among buyers of the current generation of crossover, will be from 2 million 329 thousand 900 rubles. In the Comfort package, the car will also be equipped with LED headlights, a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors. Fitted with 17” alloy wheels.

The crossover has dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch infotainment system and wireless access to Apple Carplay/Android Auto. The Warm Options package, developed by Kia to meet the needs of the Russian market, for the Comfort package includes heated windshield washer nozzles, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, and an additional electric interior heater. More detailed information about the fifth generation Kia Sportage, prices and trim levels will be presented closer to the start date of sales. Meanwhile, it also became known earlier that the engine range of the new Kia Sportage in our country will include two gasoline naturally aspirated four-cylinder engines: a volume of 2 liters (power 150 hp and a torque of 192 Nm) and 2.5 liters (power 190 liters .s and torque 242 Nm). Depending on the configuration, the crossover can be equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6- or 8-speed automatic transmission.

The new Sportage will be available with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. In the Russian market, the new Kia Sportage will be presented with a wheelbase increased to 2755 mm. The overall length of the car is 4660 mm. In compare with the current generation, the wheelbase has increased by 85mm and the length by 175mm. The overall width of the new Sportage is 1865 mm, and the height is from 1660 to 1680 mm.
