    For 10 months of 2021, more than 90 thousand new Chinese cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in Russia. This is 109% (more than double) higher than the previous year's result. The experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" came to this conclusion, having analyzed the data of the AEB.



Two-thirds of sold cars in Russia have automatic transmission


According to the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", in 2021, 1.02 million new cars with automatic transmission (AT)* were sold in our country. This is 11% higher than the level of 2020. According to the agency's experts, 66.5% of the total volume of the Russian market fell to the share of cars with AT the previous year. And this is the highest figure in its history. In other words, two-thirds of sold cars in the Russian Federation are equipped with automatic transmissions. Over a half (56%) of sold passenger cars with AT belong to five brands.

The first two lines there were occupied by the Korean Kia (195 thousand units) and Hyundai (140 thousand units), sales of such cars in 2021 grew by 9% and 6%, respectively. The third place of the ranking is occupied by Toyota (94 thousand units; +9%), followed by Skoda (73 thousand units; +1%) and Volkswagen (72 thousand units; -5%). In the model rating of the most popular cars with an "automatic", "Koreans" are also in the lead. It is headed by Kia Rio - the sales of this model in versions with automatic transmission at the end of 2021 were 75 thousand units.

Hyundai products are the next - Creta crossover (56,000 units) and Solaris sedan (49,000 units). And the TOP-5 of the best-selling new cars with AT in Russia is finished by Toyota RAV4 crossover and Volkswagen Polo liftback (37 thousand and 34 thousand units, respectively).
