    In the first summer month, the automotive market in Russia declined by 3.3% compared to June 2018. At the same time, the market decline is registered only in the mass segment, where sales decreased by 3.2%. The premium segment, on the contrary, increased (+ 2.2%).



Skoda reduced sales by 4% in Russia in 2021


Russian Skoda dealers sold 90,443 cars in 2021, which is 4.4% lower than a year before. As a result, Skoda ranked the sixth in terms of sales among all automakers in Russia, and the brand's market share was 5.4% against 5.9% a year before, according to the AEB. Skoda's bestseller in the Russian market was the compact liftback Rapid with 41,680 sold cars (+18%) the previous year. The second place in popularity was taken by the compact crossover Skoda Karoq, the sales of which grew by 25% and reached 19,487 units.

The crossover Kodiaq finishes the top three of bestsellers of the brand, which was chosen by 16,228 Russian buyers (-21.1%). As AUTOSTAT previously reported, in December of the previous year, an updated Skoda Kodiaq crossover went on sale in the Russian market, the production of which was established at the Volkswagen Group Rus plant in Nizhny Novgorod.

And in the first quarter of 2022, dealers will begin the accepting of orders for the updated Skoda Karoq compact crossover, the premiere of which took place in November of the previous year.
