TOP-10 of regions in terms of new passenger car market in 2021

More than a half (53%) of new passenger cars purchased in 2021 belonged to 10 Russian regions. This was found out by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT", having considered the relevant data of JSC "Electronic Passport". Moscow remains the largest regional car market in our country, whose residents last year became owners of 219,000 new cars.

The second place is traditionally occupied by the Moscow region (134.9 thousand units), the third is St. Petersburg (105.1 thousand units). Only in these three constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the car market managed to overcome the 100,000th mark in 2021. The best among non-capital regions was the Krasnodar Territory, where 68.5 thousand cars were purchased during the year. It took the fourth place in the overall standings, moving Tatarstan to fifth (60 thousand units).

In addition to the above regions, the TOP-10 in terms of the volume of new passenger car market also included: Bashkortostan (47.4 thousand units), Sverdlovsk region (44.2 thousand units), Samara region (44.1 thousand units), Chelyabinsk region (38.9 thousand units) and Rostov region (38.6 thousand units).
