For the whole previous year, the residents of our country purchased 1.5 million new cars, which is 3% higher than in 2020. This was found out by the experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" in the course of processing the relevant data of JSC "Electronic Passport".
Over a half (54.5%) of the Russian market fell on the products of four brands. Thus, the leader once again became the domestic LADA, which managed to increase its share to 22.3%. This also included Korean Kia (share - 13.1%), Hyundai (10.5%) and French Renault (8.6%). Moreover, only these brands had market volumes in 2021 that were higher than 100,000 units.
In the model rating, LADA Vesta excels, by pushing the former leader (Granta) to the second position. The third place was retained by Kia Rio, which allowed it to become again the best among foreign cars. If the share of domestic models was more than 7% of the Russian market, then the "Korean" share was 5.2%.
We also note that in December, about 134,000 new passenger cars were purchased in Russia. And this is 14% lower than in the same month of 2020.
