Premium car sales grew by 9% in 2021

According to the assessment of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", according to the results of 2021, 161 thousand new cars of the premium segment were sold in our country. This is 9.3% higher than in 2020.

For the second year in a row, BMW is the world leader in premium car sales. Thus, sales of the products of the Bavarian brand in Russia were 46,802 units the last year (AEB data), by showing an increase of 9.6%. The second place in the premium segment was occupied by another brand from Germany – Mercedes-Benz (43,011 units), the sales volume of which grew by 10.8%.

The third position, with a noticeable lag behind the "Germans", is occupied by the Japanese brand Lexus with a result of 19,362 vehicles and a decrease of 5.9%. Rounding out the top five of leaders in the Russian premium segment in 2021 are German Audi (16,404 units) and Swedish Volvo (9,088 units), by demonstrating sales growth of 7.6% and 13.2%, respectively.

Let's also note the English Land Rover (6,388 units; -0.4%) and the German Porsche (6,262 units; +9.6%). For the rest of the premium brands, sales for the whole year were less than 5,000 units.
