Only in four regions of the Russian Federation the share of sales of rear-wheel drive vehicles exceeds 1%

In four Russian regions, rear-wheel drive vehicles account for over 1% of sales. Such data were obtained by experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", having examined the structure of the market of new passenger cars in 2021. As it turned out, in the Jewish Autonomous Region the share of rear-wheel drive vehicles in the structure of the local market is 1.8%. In Chechnya, this figure is 1.3%, and in Karachay-Cherkessia and Moscow - 1.1%.

In all other constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the share of such vehicles accounted for less than 1% of the total sales volume. Experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" note that the share of cars with rear wheel drive in the Russian market as a whole is only 0.4%. At the same time, in addition to the four listed regions, the result above the national average was recorded in eight more: Ingushetia, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Territory, Adygea, Kabardino-Balkaria, Moscow Region, Rostov Region and Dagestan. In all other constituent entities this figure is lower than the national average, and in 17 of them there were no sales of rear-wheel drive cars at all.

As a reminder, back in 2010, rear-wheel drive vehicles accounted for 9% of the total sales of new passenger cars in the Russian Federation. But with the cessation of production of the "classic" LADA family, their share fell sharply. Today, rear-wheel drive vehicles can still be found in the premium segment, where they account for 3.2% of sales. But in the mass segment, their share is already less than 0.1%.
