3% of premium cars in Russia are bought with rear wheel drive


Rear-wheel drive accounted for 3.2% of premium car sales. This was found out by the experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", having analyzed the data on the market of new passenger cars in 2021. In the premium segment, BMW has the highest share of sales of rear-wheel drive vehicles - 6.8% of the total.

Other two German brands - Porsche and Mercedes-Benz - have this figure of 4% and 3.3%, respectively. The Japanese brand Infiniti had 2% of sold cars with rear-wheel drive, while the British Jaguar had 1%. Their share is even lower for the Japanese Lexus and Korean Genesis (0.1% each). Note also that in the mass segment, the share of rear-wheel drive is less than 0.1% of the total sales. At the same time, in the Russian market as a whole, it is equal to 0.4%.
