Mitsubishi became the first company which put the car prices down in Russia

In conditions of sales crisis Mitsubishi became the first company which announced about total price cutting for all models on average 5-15 percent. "In conditions of unstable economic situation we think our company must support its consumers and dealers", said Dmitriy Rotkin, the managing director of "ROLF Import", the Mitsubishi distributor in Russia.
According to the newspaper Gazeta.ru, other manufacturers consider that there is no need to announce about reduction in the prices of their products. Dealers also do not support the idea to cut prices down. And industrial experts say that the price cutting is the dubious measure". According to their opinion in conditions of credit crisis Mitsubishi will be able to increase sales and enlarge its market share in short-term prospects. Most probably other foreign brands will follow Mitsubishi. "Manufacturers start the race for low prices but in result all will lose", said Igor Ponomarev, the vice-chairman of "Russian automobile dealers". "That is why manufacturers neither in America nor in Europe use this scheme. In conditions of sharp decline in demand a manufacturer should defray maintenance expenses of those cars in dealers" warehouses which are not sold because of general market decline in demand.
