Dynamics of the Russian car market in August of 2020

44% of purchased cars in Moscow have all-wheel drive

All-wheel drive vehicles in Moscow accounted for 44% of total sales. The experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" came to this conclusion after examining the structure of the market of new passenger cars in various constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

Experts note that Moscow's indicator is higher than the all-Russian one. If in the capital almost every second car sold with all-wheel drive, then in average in the country it is about every third (37%). On the other hand, in a number of regions, more than a half of the purchased cars are all-wheel drive, and the regions of the Far East are in the lead in this regard. So, the highest such indicator was noted in Kamchatka - 94%. In addition, the Magadan Region (93%), Chukotka and Sakhalin (92% each) surpass the 90% mark in terms of the share of all-wheel drive sales. In the Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories, these values are 75% and 72%, respectively.

As for other regions, in St. Petersburg the share of sales of four-wheel drive vehicles is 40%, and in the Moscow region - 39%. At the same time, in most constituent entities of the Russian Federation, this indicator is lower than in the country as a whole. And least of all it is in the North Caucasus, for example, in Chechnya (22%), Ingushetia, Dagestan and Karachay-Cherkessia (by 23% each).
