    In February of 2019, sales of new cars in Russia fell by 3.6% in compare with February of 2018. The mass segment for the second month in a row shows a negative trend (-4.8%). Its sales amounted to 112,135 vehicles, which is 90.6% of the total sales.



88% of premium cars are sold with four-wheel drive


The share of all-wheel drive in premium car sales is 88%. This is the conclusion reached by the experts of the AUTOSTAT agency after analyzing the data in the market of new passenger cars in 2021. In the premium segment, only the American brands Cadillac and Jeep have all vehicles with all-wheel drive. The Korean Genesis (99.9%) falls short of 100% due to the minimal sales of rear-wheel drive versions. English Jaguar and Land Rover (99% each), Japanese Infiniti (98%), German Porsche (96%) models are slightly behind. As for the leaders in the premium segment, BMW's all-wheel drive accounts for 89% of the total volume of sold vehicles.

The same figure is for Lexus, and for Mercedes-Benz it is slightly higher - 91%. In the structure of Volvo sales, 87% of cars are all-wheel drive. 76% of Audi cars were bought with all-wheel drive. At the same time, MINI has the smallest share of sales of all-wheel drive versions in the premium segment - only 26%. Note also that in the mass segment the share of all-wheel drive is 30% of the total sales. At the same time, in the Russian market as a whole, it reaches 37%.
