Ministry of Industry and Trade predicts the growth of the Russian auto industry by about 7% in 2021

By the end of 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Trade expects the growth of the Russian auto industry at the level of 7%, despite the global shortage of semiconductors, said the head of the Ministry, Denis Manturov.

According to him, sales of new cars in the outgoing year will increase by about 5%. In turn, a source in the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the department expects a decline in the deficit of new cars in Russia in the first quarter of 2022 - at least for the main models. At the same time, the prices for cars will depend on the cost of rolled metal products, car chips and all the more expensive logistics, the source said. In his opinion, cars with a high degree of localization of production in Russia will be able to fall in price and increase their market share.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Yevtukhov said that in the coming years Russia plans to overcome dependence on imported auto components and would like to start the export of them all over the world. According to him, the localization point system in the automotive industry is gradually helping to solve this problem.
