AVTOVAZ expects to finish 2021 "in positive territory"

AVTOVAZ hopes for a slight increase in sales of LADA cars in 2021 in compare with the previous year, expecting continued difficulties with the supply of components in the first half of 2022, said the president of the company, Nicolas Maure. According to him, the market share of LADA by the end of the outgoing year is expected to be 20-21%.

Let us remind you that in 2020 AVTOVAZ sold 343.5 thousand cars in Russia, and the market share was 21.5%. According to Nicolas Maure's forecasts, the market of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia by the end of 2021 may show the 5% growth, which corresponds to the level of sales of about 1.68 million vehicles. “This year has been very good in the first half, but the second half was weak. Next year we expect the opposite picture - in the first half, in terms of sales, rather low results are expected, the second half of the year will be better,” said the head of AVTOVAZ. At the same time, he added that the situation in the car market is still more determined by the supply of components than by demand.

“The situation is constantly changing. It is difficult to predict it. When everything is tied to demand, you can build economic models and so on. And when it comes to deliveries, the shortage of components from Malaysia, Singapore, China and so on, it’s much more difficult to do it, ” - said Nicolas Maure. According to him, the deficit of magnesium in the automotive industry, which some experts have been actively talking about lately, is not threatened by AVTOVAZ, as the share of magnesium in LADA models is insignificant.
