    In 2018, sales of passenger cars and LCV in our country, according to the AEB, amounted to 1 million 800 591 units - more by 12.8% than in 2017. At the end of December of the last year, there was also a positive trend (+ 5.6% to 175,240 cars).



GM lays special hopes on Russia

According to the data of Association of European Business in September sales leader on the Russian automobile market Chevrolet brand including GM-AVTOVAZ products demonstrated negative dynamics for the first time as the brand sales declined 2 percent to 16 353 vehicles. It allowed Toyota to occupy the first place. Brands in premium class segment also were not successful. GM - Cadillacs sales dropped 7 percent to 143 vehicles, Hummers sales reduced 26 percent to 56 units. However more mass Opel, which is in ten top Russian market leaders, still shows positive dynamics. Its sales increased 49 percent to 5 207 units and Saabs sales grew 125 percent to 133 vehicles.
Despite some sales slowdown in Russia and on other East European markets last month we forecast further sustainable economic development in these countries and consequently raising of living standards and demand for vehicles on the whole Eastern Europe, says Carl-Peter Forster, GM president in Europe. Trends in sales volume dynamics and buying power which we observe mean that Eastern Europe and particular Russia opens vast opportunities before GM in long-term prospects. In spite of nowadays problems and competition in European automobile industry GM Europe will concentrate efforts to create advantages of our company in Russia and other countries of this region.
Today three fourth of all new GM vehicles are still sold in Western Europe but by 2011 more than one third of car sales in Europe will fall on Central and Eastern Europe. Russia should provide for the main share increase of eastern sales volume, where GMs rate of growth has almost doubled this year. Sales volume grew 44 percent up to 256 765 vehicles while Russian foreign car market increased 40 percent.
