In 2022, the Russian automotive market may decline by 5%

Today it is becoming more difficult to make forecasts for the car market - there are several factors that have a strong influence on this business, and at the same time, their development is almost impossible to predict. The leading analyst of "AUTOSTAT" Victor Pushkarev spoke about it within the AutostatAnalytic Day.

The average annual oil price on the world markets is one of such difficult-to-predict phenomena. It is even more difficult to predict the development of the epidemiological situation in the country and in the world. So far, all predictions boil down to the fact that the coronavirus will continue and no one knows for how long. Nevertheless, in these conditions, AUTOSTAT experts prepared three scenarios for the development of the automotive market in Russia - basic, optimistic and pessimistic, and also outlined the main trends of this market.

According to the baseline scenario, in 2021 the market of new passenger cars may grow by 3%, but already in 2022 it is likely to decline in the range from 5 to 7%. As Viktor Pushkarev explained, this is facilitated by two market trends - sales and weighted average prices.
