Russian car market decreased by 18% in October 2021


Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia in October fell by 18.1% to 126,204 vehicles. According to the results of ten months of 2021, the Russian car market reached 1 million 313 thousand 579 cars (+ 10.5%), according to the data of the Association of European Businesses.

According to the AEB, the Russian car market continued to decline for the fourth month in a row, and there is still a long way to go to overcome the global decline in production and new logistics problems associated with the disruption of supply chains. According to the Association's current forecast, by the end of 2021, 1 million 756 thousand passenger cars and light commercial vehicles will be sold in Russia, which means a market growth of 9.8% in compare with the previous year. Leadership in the Russian car market is held by the LADA brand, the sales of which in October fell by 31% and reached 25,573 cars.

Kia keeps the second place in terms of sales - sales of 16,027 cars (-24%) provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the foreign car market. The third place is occupied by Hyundai with 13,162 sold cars, which is 15% lower than a year before. Renault is the next - cars of this brand were chosen by 9,165 buyers (-36%). Toyota finishes the top five this time, sales of which increased by 6% and reached 8516 cars. GAZ (5881 units, + 17%), Skoda (5590 units, -45%), Nissan (5262 units, -10%), Haval (4803 units; an increase of 3 times) and Volkswagen (4714 units, -52%) also entered the TOP-10 of best-selling brands in October.
