Nissan plant will increase the production by 20% in St. Petersburg since November of 2021

St. Petersburg plant Nissan, in connection with the recovery of the market and the growth of car sales, will switch to a two-shift operation from November 2021. This measure, planned and announced in the summer, will increase the volume of produced cars - Nissan Qashqai, Nissan X-Trail and Nissan Murano - up to 20%, the press service of the automaker reports.

The facility will operate five days a week with two eight-hour shifts. In connection with the introduction of the second production shift, the plant has already recruited additional 300 employees, as a result of which the company now employs 1,926 people. For the first nine months of 2021, the St. Petersburg plant Nissan produced 30,526 cars, which is 17% higher in compare with the same period of the previous year. The increase in production is due to the production line stopping in April 2020 because of a shutdown.

Nissan Qashqai crossover remains the best seller of Nissan in the Russian market in January-September, sales of which were 13,886 units (-15%). The second place was taken by Nissan X-Trail with 12,816 sold cars (-9%). The flagship crossover Nissan Murano sold 1,846 units, which is 13% lower than a year ago. In addition, for nine months of 2021, Nissan more than doubled the export deliveries of Russian-made cars (2.2 times to Belarus and 2.2 times to Kazakhstan).
