The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant has confirmed plans to electrify its lineup. Oleg Krupin, the chief designer of UAZ, said that the three future lines of electric vehicles are based on the drive system developed by the Czech company MV Motors and implemented in Spartan EV electric vehicles assembled on the basis of UAZ Hunter. This SUV is equipped with a 120-kilowatt engine and has a cruising range of up to 250 km.

According to Oleg Krupin, UAZ is testing off-road vehicles, according to the results of which changes will be made to the design if necessary, and the kit-kit for re-equipment of the Hunter will be localized in Russia. The first samples of "Hunter" without ICE should appear in 2022. Next, an electric transmission will appear in the flagship UAZ Patriot SUV and commercial versions of the Profi. In addition, earlier UAZ, together with NAMI, developed a project for the hybridization of the "Profi" family.

However, according to Oleg Krupin, all work has been frozen, since according to the results of marketing research, the project turned out to be economically inexpedient. Let us remind you that this year UAZ presented a new version of the light commercial truck “Profi” with a carrying capacity of 1.5 tons with a double-sided tire of the rear axle wheels. Also, the new "Polutorka" received a modification with a gross weight of 2.5 tons, which allows you to move freely in a megalopolis, where the appearance of commercial vehicles with a maximum weight of over 2.5 tons is prohibited.

In addition, in August, the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant began the sales of bi-fuel versions of the UAZ Patriot and Pickup models, capable of running on both gasoline and compressed natural gas.
