    The position of Chinese manufacturers in the automotive market of the Russian Federation has changed dramatically for the last couple of years - their share has grown significantly. This is reported by experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" with reference to the data of JSC "PPK" * from January 2020 to September 2022.



The share of hatchbacks in the Russian market for 10 years has fallen threefold


Hatchback cars continue to lose interest among buyers in our country. As experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" calculated, for 10 years their share in the Russian market has fallen 3 times. At the same time, only classic hatchbacks were taken for analysis, excluding crossovers and SUVs with the same body type.

If in 2011 hatchbacks accounted for about a quarter (23.7%) of all sales of new passenger cars in the Russian Federation, then in 2021 this figure was only 7.8%. According to the agency's experts, during this time, hatchbacks were forced to give up their positions to models of the SUV segment, which were more and more every year. For the previous 10 years, Russians' interest has shifted towards crossovers and SUVs. As a result, the number of models of sold hatchbacks has sharply decreased.

If in 2011 buyers had a choice of about 70 such cars, now they are offered to buy no more than 15 models. It is also interesting that 10 years ago the "2114" model LADA (Samara 2) was the best-selling new hatchback in Russia, and now it has been the Kia Rio X-Line / X for the previous four years. Also, for the past years, the title of the most popular hatchbacks in the Russian market was won by Renault Sandero and LADA XRAY.
