AVTOVAZ informed how it is fighting the shortage of microchips

AVTOVAZ informed how the company was able to reduce its dependence on the current supply of electronic components. The engineers of the enterprise found alternatives that permitted to resume the production of cars. Since October 21st, all assembly lines of AVTOVAZ have been operating.

“A considerable share of the responsibility lies with electronic engineers, because you cannot just take and install the first similar microcircuit that comes across and replace it with the one that has disappeared,” said Vladimir Alexandrov, head of the hardware design department of AVTOVAZ. "The environment in the car is very harmful for them, so this is a kind of engineering puzzle." This puzzle was partially solved by the engineers of AVTOVAZ, who invented, tested and implemented about ten changes that made it possible to continue the production in the absence of some components.

The company noted that this strengthened the synergy between AVTOVAZ and its partners in the Alliance, in particular, some local solutions of Russian engineers were implemented at other production sites. Let us remind you that assembly lines at AVTOVAZ have been operating intermittently since June this year. This is due to problems with the supply of electronics components from Robert Bosch Samara, which, in turn, is experiencing difficulties in working with its suppliers. Meanwhile, AVTOVAZ plans to make up for the production losses by working on Saturdays and organizing 9-hour work shifts after the supply situation returns to normal.
