Skoda Auto is now responsible for the development of the Volkswagen Group's global MQB-A0 platform. It will be used by Skoda and Volkswagen brands to develop new base segment models for regions with high growth potential, including India, Russia, Africa, ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and Latin America, the automaker's press service said.

Thus, following the creation of the MQB-A0-IN version, adapted specifically for the Indian market, the Czech brand will be responsible for the development of the platform worldwide for the first time. Recall that today Skoda Auto portfolio includes 10 popular modern models that are sold in more than 100 countries around the world. In addition to factories in the Czech Republic, the company assembles cars at factories in Russia, China, Slovakia and India - mainly at the facilities of the Volkswagen Group - and also it produces cars in Ukraine in cooperation with a local partner. In addition to cars, Skoda Auto manufactures components, including supplying engines and transmissions for the Volkswagen Group.

As previously reported by AUTOSTAT, according to the results of nine months of 2021, Russian dealers of Skoda sold 72,647 cars, which is 11% higher than the indicator for the same period of the previous year.
