KAMAZ has released a new generation of medium-tonnage tractors K5

KAMAZ has manufactured two prototypes of KAMAZ-53251 medium-tonnage tractors as a part of the creation of a model range of K5 generation trucks. In the near future, the assembled samples will be transferred for development tests to calibrate all electronic systems - gearbox, engine, vehicle control unit, the press service of KAMAZ reports.

The first samples of medium-duty trucks of the K5 generation are presented in the form of a chassis for the installation of superstructures for retail services and utilities. Trucks are designed as a further development of the K4 generation vehicles. The new models differ from their predecessor - KAMAZ-5325 (generation K4) - with the chassis weight reduced by almost 200 kg, which in turn made it possible to increase the carrying capacity of the vehicles. The prototypes also differ among themselves: the differences relate mainly to the weight characteristics of the trucks.

Thus, the curb weight of a vehicle designed for communal superstructures is 6250 kg, the technically permissible total weight is 19 tons. The retail chassis has a curb weight of 6,550 kg. The gross weight of the truck is 18 tons; the maximum weight with a trailer is 28 tons. Under the bonnet of both cars, a diesel engine Cummins ISB6.7E5 310 of ecological class "Euro-5" is installed, which works in combination with an automated 9-speed gearbox ZF9AS1310TO. The cabin is all-metal, with a field tunnel height of 170 mm, on a four-point suspension. For the retail sector, it is additionally equipped with one berth.

As AUTOSTAT reported earlier, despite the fact that KAMAZ continues to expand actively the model range of K5 generation vehicles, the production of trucks with the classic K3 cab will not stop for now.
