VW Polo EM and Skoda Fabia will be the main localizer of the factory Volkswagen Rus

The russian factory Volkswagen, where the models Skoda are output, intends to reach 30% of localization of production within several years. This was reported by the member of committee of directors Skoda Auto Holger Kincher, controlling the russian direction, for RBK daily.
As he said, the full localization will start only after the start of production Polo EM, which has to appear at the conveyer in Kaluga in 2010. Some components of the russian production for this model will be used at the assembly of Skoda Fabia of the new generation. As the biggest share in the total volume of production of Volkswagen Rus will account for Polo EM and there will be output 30 40 thsd of Fabia cars per year, these two models will be the main localizers.
Mr. Kincher also reported that Skoda is already negotiating with russian suppliers about the production of components for Octavia, which has common details with Passat. These two models are the mass ones at the conveyer Volkswagen Rus: according to plan for 2008, 20 thsd cars will account on them; the total volume of production will be 60 thsd cars. However, the level of their localization will be not so high, as Polo and Fabia have.
We will try to localize everything possible. Because the logistic expenses are big, - said Holger Kincher. To be true, there are not enough suppliers in Russia. Russian manufacturers of components will have to become competitive by price. We expected to be able to see the similar or even lower level of prices, than in Central of Western Europe. But in case of the majority of parts it is vice versa. The prices here are by 10 15% higher. We will try to reach such level of prices, that the localization will be compensated.
