KAMAZ presented a gas modification of its flagship tractor

Within the framework of the recently held St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, KAMAZ presented a K5-generation mainline tractor - KAMAZ-54901, which runs on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and has a cruising range of 1400 km, as well as the newest R6 gas engine. The working volume of this engine is 11.6 liters, the power is 450 hp.

Thus, the technical parameters of KAMAZ gas vehicles have reached the level of diesel ones, the press service of the automaker reports. “If just a few years ago the 12-liter KAMAZ engine produced only 240 hp, then today our new R6 gas engine with the same working volume has a power of 450 hp. The use of LNG provides a gas-powered tractor with a mileage at one filling comparable to a diesel analogue,” said Evgeny Pronin, Director of NGVs at KAMAZ.

He also emphasized that in Russia, goods move over great distances and the reduction of the cost of long-distance transportation is an important task. The use of NGV fuel in this area provides maximum savings. Therefore, KAMAZ has mastered the production of a whole range of tractors operating on both compressed and liquefied natural gas.

Due to the increase in the number of gas stations on the main highways, these cars began to be in great demand. It should be noted that today KAMAZ can produce 8,000 vehicles and 2,000 gas-powered buses per a year.
