What is the structure of dealer networks in the Russian Federation by the origin of brands?

As of mid-July 2021, there were 3,182 official dealerships * for the sale and maintenance of passenger cars in Russia. Such data are provided by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" based on the results of the monitoring. It is noted that the number of dealerships in comparison with the beginning of the year decreased by 28 - due to the fact that 155 existing dealer contracts were terminated and 127 new ones were concluded.

More than a quarter (27%) of the total number of dealerships in the country is accounted for European car brands - there are 867 of them. At the same time, for six months (from January to July) their number grew by 9 units. Interests of Chinese and Japanese brands are represented by 697 and 651 companies that are equivalent to a share of 22% and 21%, respectively. But if the "Chinese" grew for six months with 4 new dealer contracts, then in the "Japanese segment" the number of dealers, on the contrary, decreased - by 39.

Such a sharp decline is due to the departure of the Datsun brand from the Russian market. One contract was terminated with dealers of Korean and Russian automakers. Thus, now the "Koreans" and "Russians" have 420 and 414 dealers, respectively, i.e. 13% of their total. American brands have the least number of dealers - their number has not changed for six months and now amounts to 133, or 4%.
