All-wheel drive vehicles account for 33.5% of the total number of sold cars in the Russian Federation. This conclusion was made by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" as a result of research * of cars available on the site "Price Auto".

Experts state that most of the cars are still sold in front-wheel drive versions - in 2021 their share was 65.6%. The remaining 0.9% are rear-wheel drive passenger cars. If we consider the preferences of Russians in terms of drive in the context of brands, then Volkswagen is the closest to the average market ratio.

The German brand has 32% of sold vehicles with four-wheel drive. Comparable figures were recorded for the French Renault (35%) and the Chinese Geely (38%). Japanese Suzuki (4WD share - 47%), Nissan (52%) and Mazda (55%) have an approximate parity in sales of all-wheel and front-wheel drive cars. But such brands as Cadillac, CHERYEXEED, Honda, Subaru and UAZ sell cars with all-wheel drive only.

It is also worth noting that BMW has the largest share of rear-wheel drive vehicles in total sales - 8.4%. Another German premium brand, Mercedes-Benz, has a slightly lower figure (7.2%).
