BMW 3 Series come under recall in Russia 20 years ago

The company "BMW Rusland Trading" on October 4th announced the recall of 19 BMW 3 Series cars sold from April 1998 to May 2000. Reasons for recall: due to depressurization of the driver's airbag gas generator, moisture may enter the gas generator fuel.

Severe moisture absorption as well as possible drying out over extended periods of time can, according to current assumptions, lead to fuel degradation due to mechanical stress (for example, when driving on a bad road). In this case, when the airbag is triggered during an accident, too much internal pressure may arise in the gas generator, and in the worst case, the gas generator may explode, as a result the metal parts can cause injury, the press service of Rosstandart reports.

The driver's airbag gas generator will be replaced in all vehicles. All work will be carried out free of charge for the owners. As a reminder, in May, BMW Rusland Trading announced the recall of 35 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe cars sold from April 2013 to August 2016.

The reason for the recall was that on some cars, the high-set brake light is attached to the serial roof made of CFK (carbon fiber) using six threaded connections, the press service of Rosstandart reports.
