Sollers Ford spoke about future plans in Russia


Sollers Ford Joint Venture, which celebrates 10 years since its founding and the beginning of its operations in Russia, has plans to be both in the Russian automotive market and abroad, to create additional businesses related to the localization of the product line, as well as to introduce innovative technologies, financial instruments, solving issues on the introduction of electrification and digitalization.

This was stated by the President and CEO of Sollers Ford, Adil Shirinov. Today "Sollers Ford" represents on the Russian market commercial vehicles Ford Transit, produced at the plant in the Special Economic Zone "Alabuga" (Republic of Tatarstan), as well as a wide range of special and social purposes. The number of special versions based on the Ford Transit includes more than 170 modifications, the press service of Sollers Ford reports. As noted, over the 10 years of the existence of Ford Transit in Russia, there were produced 110 thousand cars, among which almost 50 thousand after the restructuring of the Ford Sollers joint venture since mid-2019.

The market share of Ford Transit in the commercial vehicle segment grew by 30% to 19%. Recall that in October of 2020, Sollers Ford Company announced plans to restart the engine plant in the Alabuga SEZ and start the production of diesel engines for the Ford Transit line of commercial vehicles there. Serial production of the engines is scheduled for 2023. Currently, all Ford Transits are equipped with turbo diesel engines with a volume of 2.2 liters (125-155 hp). In January 2021, Sollers Ford bought the production assets of the engine plant in Yelabuga from Ford Motor Company for 1.14 billion rubles.
